The cooperative, which is committed to manufacturing its own products, closed 2024 with sales of 127 million euros and exports 70% of the total to almost 50 countries. The Ownat brand is Cotécnica’s proposal for healthy food in the most premium segments and with natural ingredients for pets.
Ownat has a wide variety of premium product ranges designed to adapt to each stage and the specific needs of pets. They only use local, fresh, and natural ingredients, without preservatives, colorings, or artificial additives that do not provide nutritional or functional value to the product. They cook their products using soft cooking, a method that gently steams the food to the precise point, enabling the pet’s body to make better use of the energy it contains, resulting in a highly digestible and nutrient-rich meal. They offer multiple alternatives to ensure that dog and cat food is not only nutritious but also the most suitable for their age, specific characteristics, and any potential special requirements.
As a result, during the production process, it is necessary to pack a wide range of products into bags — more than 60 different products with varying kibble sizes, packed in bags ranging from 5 to 20 kg.
Cotècnica acquired a CSA 105 — an open-mouth bagging machine for dry pet food known for its high versatility and ability to adapt seamlessly to various bag-changing requirements. As pet food producers, they offer a wide range of products that need to be packaged in bags of different sizes, materials, and closure systems.
The bag-filling machine included a multi-empty-bag magazine, providing increased autonomy.
To ensure a perfect bag finish, an alignment system guarantees precise top-positioned welding.
Some years later, after experiencing significant growth, the company decided to expand its production capacity by adding a new bagging machine. This time, they acquired the CSA 125 — an open-mouth bagging machine with a higher production capacity than its predecessor.
As with the previous project, we customized the machine to meet their specific needs: ensuring high dosing accuracy, the desired level of bagging autonomy, and an optimal bag closure system and finish for effective presentation on supermarket shelves.
